Clean Catalyst is developing steam reforming catalysts to decrease the cost of producing ammonia, methanol, hydrogen and synthetic diesel from natural gas. The total market for steam reforming catalysts is currently $540 million. Clean Catalyst’s core technology, developed at MIT by Dr. Hong He and Dr. Jackie Ying, provides a formula for a catalyst that is both highly catalytic and resistant to carbon buildup. The patent pending technology allows current gas production processes to be run at lower temperatures and with less steam, saving significantly to the energy costs of a gas production plant.
